Edge is a middle school faith formation program for Sacred Heart youth. The curriculum is designed to meet the specific spiritual needs of 6th – 8th grade youth. Our goal with the Edge program is to lead our youth into a deeper relationship with Christ and a fuller understanding of the Catholic Church.

Edge meets from 7pm-8:30pm most Wednesdays in the CFC.

Youth in grades 9-12 will be participating in YDisciple from 7pm-8:30pm most Wednesdays in the CFC. YDisciple provides an environment for teenagers to come to know and love their faith.  Discipleship is not a program – it is an apprenticeship in the Christian life.  YDisciple is designed to:

  • Train and equip adults to disciple teens.
  • Connect teens with caring, faith-filled adults who can apprentice them in the disciplines of a disciple.
  • Draw teens out of the crowd into an environment where they can be known and cared for.
  • Catechize in a small-group setting where testimony, discussion, and faith sharing can take place.
  • Support parents with resources to grow in their own faith and share their faith with their teenagers.
  • Provide quality content so adult leaders can effectively introduce and explore topics of the faith.
  • Mobilize as many adults as possible to mentor teens through a user-friendly online platform.

In His own ministry, Jesus started with just a small group of friends. This is the approach of the YDisciple youth ministry program. It has been found that a small-group discipleship program is the optimal environment to successfully engage teens. They faithfully invest in one another, and become inspired to not only know Christ better, but to live for Him.

Our Confirmation program is a two-year program and is open to all High School students in grades 10-12.

However, students who are seeking to be confirmed in the Spring of 2020, must participate in our High School Ministry for the 2018-19 and 2019-20 school years, as well as the additional Confirmation sessions in the during the 2019-20 school year.  Confirmation candidates must spend two years in preparation in order to be confirmed.

As of Fall 2019, our Confirmation program is comprised of weekly High School Ministry Youth Nights (Wednesdays 7-8:30pm), attending Sunday Mass, team building activities, service projects, and a retreat to help prepare the youth for this wonderful sacrament.

The sacrament of Confirmation is the full outpouring of the Holy Spirit as once granted to the apostles on the day of Pentecost. Confirmation bring an increase and deepening of baptismal grace: it unites us more firmly to Christ, it increases the gifts of the Holy Spirit (wisdom, understanding, right judgment, courage, knowledge, reverence and awe)  in us, it renders our bond with the Church more perfect, it gives us a special strength of the Holy Spirit to spread and defend the faith by word and action as true witnesses of Christ, to confess the name of Christ boldly, and never to be ashamed of the Cross.
